Welcome to WHS Sports Reports
This is place to find out everything that is happening in sport and Physical Education at Westhoughton High School. The school's weekly team results will be displayed here, together with any photographs of the matches, players and teams involved. Each year group's results will be displayed in it's own blog, which are available in the links on the right of this screen.
From time to time there will be special features on any sports trips which have taken place and on WHS pupils who have acheived something special in sport or Physical Education. There are already two features on the School Sports Day and Year 11 Cup Final Victory which both took place in July 2005.
The school Year 7 and 8 Athletic Records for 2005 have now been added to the Sports Day feature as well as a new piece on the Ski Trip which took place in January 2006.
If you would like to be a WHS Sports Reporter and write match reports for this blog, we would like to hear from you. Send an e-mail with your name and form to whsadmin@hotmail.co.uk and you will be invited to join the reporting team here at WHS Sports Reports. Alternatively, contact Mr. Jones in the ICT Department. You will then be able to get your own blog username and password to write your reports from home or in school.
If you don't want to be a reporter, you can still leave your own comments about any of the items posted here, but remember that they will be checked by a teacher before they appear in the blog.
So check this blog out every week to see what's new.

Ski Trip 2006
In January this year our Director of Physical Education, Mr M. Towers, ran a ski trip for 40 pupils to Chatel in France. The members of staff accompanying were Mrs Jones, Mr Dignam and Miss Roue.
We left from Manchester airport on 2nd January and returned on the 9th January. The pupils were a credit to the school. Their behaviour was brilliant and they all skied with flair. In the evenings there were lots of fun activities including pizza trips, ice skating, treasure hunts and of course the karaoke evening to end the week.

Next year we return to the same venue (we liked it so much last time!). We are going over New Year and the trip was so popular it sold out in just two days.
Have a look at the photos attached - you may see yourself or one of your mates taking part in this exciting and fun sport. Who knows, one of them may be the first British medal winner in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
